The Food & Beverage (F&B) Director will serve on the Leadership team and is responsible for the management of the clubs Food & Beverage operation which includes four restaurants, three kitchens and a robust catering department. This position will provide leadership towards achieving the clubs mission, vision, and values. One of the primary responsibilities is to establish departmental goals and objectives in support of the clubs annual and long-range plans, policies, and procedures. The F&B Director will attend and participate in a variety of club committee and subcommittee meetings. The club’s Food & Beverage Committee provides oversight of the Food & Beverage operations and the Food & Beverage Director is the primary staff liaison to this Committee.
**Essential Job Functions**
* Provides leadership, direction, and motivation to F&B staff and direct reports i.e. Executive Chef, Catering Manager, F&B Business Analyst and Restaurant Managers.
* Formulates and implements an annual departmental Action Plan incorporating action items supporting the Strategic Plan and other specific tasks as directed by the Director of Club Operations.
* Oversees the operation of the Food & Beverage department using sound business practices. Organizes and assists the department managers and supervisors in planning, adopting, and implementing Club goals, policies, operating procedures, and standards.
* Collaborates with department managers in forecasting, developing, and achieving capital and operating budgets. Creates the Food & Beverage annual operating budget, measures outcomes, monitors budget variances and takes necessary corrections if needed to ensure effective resource management.
* Assists department managers in evaluating and prioritizing objectives and work requirements. Works with supervisors to maintain adequate staffing levels including delegation of work assignments, as appropriate. Effectively delegates responsibility and authority to key management personnel.
* Facilitates an environment that promotes open and constructive communication among members, staff, and committees. Plans and conducts weekly Food & Beverage meetings and daily pre-service meetings. Ensures appropriate in-house and external training programs are provided to all Food & Beverage staff.
* Balances the demand for and supply of restaurant services and capacity. Works with Board appointed committees to establish memberships needs and develop plans (short or long-term) including F&B capital projects.
* Establishes and maintains an internal evaluation program to measure membership satisfaction. Ensures that food quality meets members tastes and expectations through periodic surveys utilizing various methods. Ensures and measures the operating efficiency and high service level of the department.
* Monitors and responds to changes within the marketplace both external and internal to the Club. This includes food service concepts, pricing, and levels of service. Evaluates demand for Food & Beverage service through effective marketing plans and by monitoring member desires.
* Complies with all Club safety policies and procedures demonstrating safe work practices. Identifies and reports unsafe or hazardous work conditions. Ensure all workplace injuries and illnesses are reported to Human Resources.
* Oversees Food & Beverage related events and promotions. Ensures that the Food & Beverage facilities are in good physical condition. Requests modifications and repairs as needed.
* Promotes the MAC code of conduct in club activities and demonstrates the importance of providing quality service to members.
**Qualifications**
* Bachelors degree (B.A.) in Hospitality Management is preferable or college degree in related field. Minimum of five years of Food and Beverage management experience in a high-volume upscale hotel/resort, private club and/or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
* Experience with various computerized point of sale, labor scheduling, financial reporting, and inventory systems. Must have experience implementing inventory and point of sale systems.
* Ability to work effectively with peers in a matrix environment to identify opportunities for improvement and solutions that best meet the organizations needs.
* Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership skills in enhancing staff development, promoting teamwork, and improving the quality of service delivered.
* Excellent and demonstrated skills in budgeting and financial analysis.
* Experience with menu development and customer service techniques.
* Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
* Comprehensive wine knowledge.
* Ability to perform the essential job functions.
