Director of Engineering Operations
Nucleus is seeking a Director of Engineering Operations to join our team to support the Nucleus application, employees, and customers. The Director of Engineering Operations is instrumental in the organization’s ability to deliver a reliable and performant application. This hands-on leader is someone who has “been there done that” when it comes to leading and managing an Engineering Operations team within a SaaS environment in the security space.  This leader would report to the CIO and would be responsible for all engineering operations within Nucleus, including provisioning, operating, maintaining, and observing Nucleus’s various product lines.  Nucleus is a fast-growing startup where we recognize and reward performance and encourage sustainable working hours. What You Will Do

  • Lead the engineering operations team following the Nucleus Core Values
  • Roadmap Planning and Project Management
  • Personnel Management: 1:1s, Performance Reviews
  • Technical Contributions & Architectural Guidance
  • Design, create, and maintain cloud platforms
  • Use or create tools to manage systems, solve problems, and automate operations tasks
  • Responsible for the availability, CI/CD, change management, incident management, emergency response, observability, cloud spend, and capacity management of platform services
  • Monitoring and reporting the status of all production applications
  • Assist in troubleshooting complex customer issues as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience directly related to the job functions
  • Experience with people management
  • Industry accepted certifications
  • Ability to migrate and scale cloud systems and solutions to allow for the growing infrastructure to remain available, secure, and performant
  • Self-starter with an ability to troubleshoot complex problems and deploy/develop fixes
  • Deep understanding of designing and deploying cloud technologies
  • Team player with ability to adapt to the rapidly changing world of startups
  • Manage and participate in on-call rotation
  • CI/CD development and deployment
  • Experience with administration and use of ticketing systems like Jira.
  • Scripting or programming experience
  • Adhering with compliance requirements and regulatory requirements
  • Experience with technologies such as
    • Linux
    • Ansible
    • Terraform
    • Grafana
    • Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
    • Kubernetes (EKS)
    • Containers
    • SQL and various DBMS’ preferably SingleStore
