Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Medicinal Chemistry to lead our talented team and advance our medicinal chemistry programs. The successful candidate will lead efforts for design, synthesis and screening of novel molecules leading to the identification of targeted effector molecules (TEMs), linker-payloads for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and ligands for targeted radioligand therapy (RLT). This role will report to the Senior Vice President of Chemistry and will play a key role in shaping our research and development strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic plan for the identification of TEMs, linker-payloads for ADCs and ligands for RLT, aligning it with the company’s overall R&D goals.
Team Management: Lead and manage a cross-functional team of scientists, including medicinal chemists and analytical chemists, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment while maintaining high safety standards.
Innovative Research: Drive innovation in the design and synthesis of novel ADC payloads, linker technologies, TEMs and ligands for RLT to maximize therapeutic potential.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biology, pharmacology, and ADME/PK, to ensure seamless integration and communication across research and development efforts.
Budget Management: Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively to support project goals.
Scientific Excellence: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the fields of medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry and ADCs fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement within the department.
Intellectual Property: Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patent filings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Qualifications:
•A Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with a minimum of ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
•Proven track record in the development of small-molecule and linker payloads for ADC drug candidates.
•Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
•Experience in managing budgets and resources for research programs.
•A history of successful publications, patents, and contributions to the field.
•Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to scientific excellence.
•Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for innovation and research.
