The Director, Translational Business for Leica Biosystems is responsible for driving growth within the Translational Business science space, speeding up the transfer of scientific discoveries from research (life science markets) into clinical practice. This position will drive revenue, lead a team to sell products and services to customers who utilize Leica Biosystems or our Partner assays and instruments to advance discovery, innovation, and the development of novel assays.

This position is part of the ASR and Pharma Services team and will report to the Senior Vice President of Advanced Assays and Pharma PartnershipsIt will a be a remote position and you will be ideally located in the Chicago area but open to other US locations. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and execute strategies to drive revenue and growth within the translational science sector.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key customers to understand their needs and align product offerings accordingly.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging Leica Biosystems assays and instruments expertise to develop novel assays.

  • Lead negotiations and contract discussions with customers to secure business deals.

  • Provide guidance and support to the sales team to ensure sales targets are met or exceeded.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.

The essential requirements of the job include

  • A strong understanding of translational science, exceptional leadership skills, ability to drive revenue growth, with a proven track record of driving revenue, achieving sales targets and driving business outcomes within the Lifesciences industry.

  • Customer Focus is key, ability to demonstrate dedication to understanding customer needs and providing tailored solutions to meet those needs.

  • Adaptable and Innovative, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, ability to identify opportunities to leverage Leica Biosystems expertise to develop novel assays and solutions, adjusting strategies to meet evolving market demands.

  • Leadership and communication skills that inspire and guide the team towards achieving common goals, effectively conveying complex scientific concepts negotiating business deals

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences).

It would be a plus if you also possess

  • Previous experience with Leica Biosystems assays and instruments.

  • Proven track record in sales, business development, or marketing withing a translational science-related field.

  • Experience collaborating across global, cross-functional teams.

  • An Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, Ph.D., MBA).

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel between 20% – 50% of the time (primarily US).  Overnight travel will be required.

The salary range for this role is $170k – $215k. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
