This position is based out of our office in Tampa, FL and works with the Chief Financial Officer on all company accounting matters. In this role, you will be our in-house accounting expert, reviewing our accounting and educating us on corrections when necessary. This would be the perfect opportunity for a public accountant with hospitality experience to advance their career with a fun, growing lodging company!Along with providing guidance to the property accounting team, the Vice President of Accounting will oversee all partnership accounting, including timely and accurate reporting. They will engage with our external accounting firm to manage the companys annual audits/reviews and lead the tax process, ensuring the timely issuance of K1s to our owners and partners.What you haveActive CPA certification (mandatory)10 years of public accounting experience (hospitality related preferred, not required)Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting standardsExcellent communication skills, bother verbal and writtenAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environmentA good sense of humor and energetic dispositionAn eagerness to contribute to a rapidly growing hospitality companyWhat youll doReview the accounting of the company to ensure it aligns with GAAP, identifies concerns and educates our accounting leaders on how to correct before annual audits commenceEngage on sales and equity transactions, debt refinancing, and other infrequent activities while lending their GAAP expertise and guidance in accounting for these situationsReview intercompany balances monthly to ensure transactions are correctly reported across the companyMonitor balance sheet reconciliations regularly to ensure items are supported and cleared in a timely mannerDevelop and implement GAAP compliant accounting policies and processesLeads the annual audit and tax processes with our external accounting firmFacilitates the timely reporting necessary to achieve all tax and reporting deadlinesLeverages industry expertise to contribute to the companys growth and successAlways establishes and maintains positive and collaborative working relationshipOther necessary duties as reasonably assignedPhysical DemandAbility to sit or stand for extended periods of timeAbility to bendAbility to lift, pull 50 lbsAbility to communicate clearlyAbility to work long hours as neededMental DemandsMake sound judgments quicklyWork on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlinesAble to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to othersManage differing personalities within the property, the resort, and the communityMaintain the highest degree of confidentialityAbility to work effectively in stressful, high pressure situationsAbility to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessaryMainsail Lodging & Development is a proud equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to attracting, retaining, and maximizing the performance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
