Director, Clinical Contracting SOM

Under the direction of the CEO of Tulane University Medical Group the Director for Clinical Contracting provides effective leadership across the entire clinical contracting lifecycle. This position also has a dotted line oversight under the Chief Business Officer in the Dean’s Office of the School of Medicine (SOM). The Director is a healthcare financial management and contracting professional responsible for ensuring the integrity of the SOM/TUMG contracting process, from initial request to final execution and ongoing oversight. The Director works closely with the TUMG CEO, CBO, Finance Department SOM, TUMG General Counsel, and Contracts Advisory Committee to optimize the contracting function. They also partner with SOM department leadership in the development of plans for new clinical initiatives that require contractual support from affiliated hospitals or community partners. The Director develops and maintains relationships with affiliated hospital counterparts to support ongoing contract development and oversees the business analytics and reporting necessary to support clinical contracting.

The Director has significant business development experience, strong people skills, proficiency with both Excel and Business Intelligence reporting, and both financial and contract analytics. They are comfortable presenting to groups of varying sizes and seniority levels.
•Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents AND financial reports
•Experience with creating managing budgets

•Health care/patient care business environment experience
•High proficiency with excel and business intelligence software

•Demonstrated excellent analytical skills
•Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

•Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments without direct supervision

•Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed

•Bachelor’s Degree in business or related field
•Five plus (5+) years’ experience in the areas of clinical administration and/or clinical contract management.

•Master’s level education or higher with Finance or Healthcare Background

•At least three years’ experience with healthcare contract negotiation

•Experience in the patient care and or physician practice/hospital environment

•Experience in academic medicine settings
