JOB SUMMARY
Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana is looking for an energetic, talented, and passionate candidate to serve as the Club Director at the Lake Charles location. Under the supervision of the Area Manager, this position is responsible for developing and implementing youth development instructional strategies, content, and management of the organization’s evaluation system. The Club Director will lead a team of part-time Youth Development Professionals towards the mission and goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Acadiana. The Club Director will work alongside the BGCA Leadership Team to bring research and evidence-based practices and strategies into the club and out into the community.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish Club programs, activities, and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes
- Ensure a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment, and supplies are maintained
- Under the guidance of the Area Manager, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate Club overall programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance, and participation
- Recruit, manage, and provide career development opportunities for Club staff and volunteers; conduct regular staff meetings
- Identify training needs and organize/lead the facilitation of ongoing training for all Club staff
- Ability to coach, lead, and mentor staff on program implementation
- Manage feeding program, including deliveries, compliance with protocol, and reporting
- Implement processes for data collection and program assessments (e.g. Pulse Check, NYOI system), including managing membership tracking software
- Facilitate communication of data between Club and BGCA Leadership Team to best tell our story
- Maintain open communication and positive relationships with BGCA staff
- Understand and manage financial resources of the Club, controlling expenditures and submitting regular financial reports as requested
- Develop partnerships with parents, schools, community leaders, and organizations
- Manage a Club Advisory Council of donors and community stakeholders
- Assist with community partnerships to increase membership and donor base
- Actively participate in organizational events and fundraisers, as instructed by VP of Operations
- Other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree (education, sociology, or related field) preferred but combination of relevant experience and education considered
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in community-based youth development organization, managing both staff and programs
- Proficient technology skills including Microsoft Office, database management, basic computing, typing, email, and web applications
- Working knowledge of nonprofit budgets and budget management
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Ability to lead and collaborate; strong leadership skills necessary
- Ability to accomplish tasks under pressure and effectively work independently
- Prioritizes and follows through on tasks and assignments
- Ability to connect and build positive relationships with youth-work professionals, other staff, and targeted community members
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certification
- Valid State Driver’s License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work Environment: High energy club environment working both indoors and outdoors – approximately 25% of time working with children. Regular local travel required and periodic out-of-state travel for training events. Work schedules includes weekends, depending upon scheduling requirements.
Physical & Mental Requirements: High energy level; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility; good reasoning abilities and sound judgement; requires the ability to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting, as well as bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting 5-50 lbs. on a daily basis. Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing.
Pay Range: $45,000 per year
