Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support our client in their search for a Director of Transportation.This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of transportation operations including managing a fleet of over 800 vehicles, developing and implementing transportation policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities
Builds and maintains a positive work environment by actively driving employee initiatives aimed at enhancing engagement and satisfaction.
Manage a team of transportation supervisors, fleet personnel, and administrative staff.
Provide leadership and guidance to transportation staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Develop and execute strategic transportation initiatives to reduce overall operating costs and optimize service levels.
Review transportation operational results and establish procedures to improve the immediate performance. Control and monitor all transportation service and cost issues.
Lead and direct transportation improvement projects, driving transportation operational excellence to save money and realize productivity increases.
Work closely with cross functional leaders, business unit leaders and teams to create and implement continuous improvement in all aspects of transportation performance.
Manage the operating budget of the function by developing and maintaining annual budgets, forecasting, reviewing/approving expenses, and driving cost efficiencies.
Provide Sales and other functions with accurate transportation rates and cost modeling for new and existing business that are market specific.
Drive change to streamline processes and find new ways/better ways to deliver excellent service to our customers and partners.
Ensure that all traffic/transportation activities comply with local, state, and federal DOT regulations.
Keep abreast of all changes to applicable safety regulations and modify organizational practices as needed.
Direct efforts to address all transportation issues and customer complaints.
Develop and manage a purchasing / divesture program per company parameters. Develop relationships with vendors to ensure we are utilizing our best sourcing abilities possible.
Leverage available telematics information to address driver behavior, maintenance needs and improve reliability as well as reduce idling and fuel consumption.
Develop and manage the vehicle / equipment preventative maintenance programs. Implement repair strategies to maximize fleet availability, reliability and minimize life-cycle cost via preventative maintenance interval strategies.
Provide oversight for vehicle repair and maintenance expenses, to assure we are making the most cost-effective decisions for the fleet.
Manage the titling and licensing of newly acquired vehicles as well as the IFTA and IRP programs through the asset management team.
Develop and manage the fuel program strategies to provide efficient fueling of company vehicles at the lowest cost.
Manage all internal fleet shop locations as well as third party maintenance partners.
Manage a team of fleet technicians, mechanics, and fleet administrative staff, providing leadership, guidance, and training as needed.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the performance of the transportation department and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the transportation operations industry or other relevant field
Previous experience leading large operations teams across multiple locations/geographies
Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing solutions for customers with complex supply and logistics requirements.
Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
Strong Teamwork and Organization Development skills.
Demonstrated experience in translating business needs into technology requirements.
Outstanding communication (oral, writing and presentation skills).
Demonstrated ability to work well across multiple teams and personalities in a corporate environment.
Proven experience in a senior management role within the transportation industry.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement transportation strategies that drive operational excellence.
In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
