We are looking to hire a Chief of Medical Unit who will provide and supervise the provision of the diagnosis and continuous management (including regular clinical reassessments) of diseases and disorders of patients enrolled at START clinics. Reports directly to the Medical Director, under the unit of Operations -Medical
Supervise and periodically review the deployment of medical staff (physician assistant and nurses) in the dispensing of medication, in the provision of primary care and in representing the medical perspective during interdisciplinary team meetings. This includes monitoring of time cards and vacation. Certify all medical staff is able to perform basic medical procedures such as venipuncture, EKG, reading of PPD and Blood Glucose testing.
Evaluate and examine patients, utilizing the clinical history, physical examination and the appropriate laboratory data adhering to appropriate standards of treatment.
Practice and oversee the provision of health promotion and disease prevention to include administering vaccinations and counseling regarding the virtues of dietary and hygienic interventions where appropriate.
Provide first aid and emergency care to patiens and staff who become ill during working hours.
Assist in the conduct of clinical research projects which the Division may from time to time be engaged.
Attend all medical meetings annually.
Review on a monthly basis the medication dispensing practices of the nurses and the urine toxicology data.
Oversee the daily operation of the medical clinic and implement measures to promote the optimal functioning of the medical department.
Ensure with the aid of the PA Head Nurse that all patients due for regular, periodic examinations are scheduled and seen.
Perform any and all tasks necessary to improve the quality of care, to improve the productivity of medical staff, and to improve patients satisfaction with the medical/nursing care they receive.
